Sarah Bennett FOUNDER, ARIGATO FOR WELLBEING

HELLO, I’M SARAH

A Personal Approach
to Wellbeing

Before Arigato, I was a teacher. In my early twenties I developed ME/chronic fatigue syndrome and spent years seriously unwell. That time shaped how I think about wellbeing, and eventually led me to change careers.

Today I support clients through therapies, particularly craniosacral therapy. I’m also a mother, so I know that when one person is struggling, the whole family feels it.

“Everyone has a different story, and everyone deserves to be listened to.”

For me, education and trust come before selling. This page is a place to learn about carnosine honestly — what is known, what isn’t — so you can explore your own options and make informed choices.

SarahNEXT Start with the basics: what is carnosine?

LET’S START WITH THE BASICS

Meet Carnosine

In short: carnosine is a naturally occurring dipeptide made from beta-alanine and histidine, found mainly in skeletal muscle.

Two building blocks

A dipeptide is simply two amino acids joined together. For carnosine, those are beta-alanine and histidine. The body makes it itself.

Where it is found

Carnosine is most concentrated in skeletal muscle, with smaller amounts in other tissues such as the brain. In the diet it comes from animal-derived foods, particularly meat and fish.

Naturally occurring doesn’t automatically mean a product is effective or suitable for everyone. Those are separate questions.

A CLOSER LOOK INSIDE

Carnosine and
Muscle Science

Behind every movement, a remarkable set of natural processes is at work.

During high-intensity exercise, the chemical environment inside muscle cells changes. Carnosine contributes to intracellular buffering: helping to buffer hydrogen ions and moderate changes in acidity inside the cell.

Inside the muscle cell

Muscle carnosine is one part of a complex system. It is studied alongside many other factors involved in exercise physiology.

02

A mechanism is not a product claim

This biological role does not show that applying a topical product increases carnosine in human muscle or improves performance.

A PERSONAL CONNECTION

From the Rugby Pitch to
Everyday Wellbeing

Sport and movement are part of Sarah's family life, too. Her son plays rugby and uses carnosine gel as part of his personal routine. For Sarah, this is another reason to remain curious about the products she chooses to explore and the science behind them.

Personal experience is not evidence of product effectiveness. Individual experiences vary.

INDIVIDUAL STORIES

Real People. Personal Experiences.

Behind every experience is a person with their own story. Sarah values listening to those stories while recognising the difference between personal experience and scientific evidence.

Personal experiences are individual and do not establish product effectiveness.

CURIOSITY, WITH A CRITICAL EYE

Understanding the Research

Science is a process of asking, testing and checking. Different kinds of research answer different questions.

A principle we return toA CLAIM IS NOT EVIDENCE.

  1. Established background biology

Can tell us: Carnosine’s composition, where it is found and its role in intracellular buffering are well described.

Cannot tell us: Biology describes what a molecule does in the body — not what a product will do for you.

  2. Laboratory findings

Can tell us: Cell and test-tube studies explore mechanisms under controlled conditions.

Cannot tell us: Concentrations and conditions often differ greatly from the human body.

  3. Animal research

Can tell us: Can suggest whether an idea is worth testing further.

Cannot tell us: Results in animals frequently do not translate to people.

  4. Human research

Can tell us: Shows what happened in specific people, at a specific dose, by a specific route.

Cannot tell us: One study rarely settles a question; design and size matter.

  5. Product-specific evidence

Can tell us: Testing of the finished formulation, for its intended use, is what supports product claims.

Cannot tell us: Remaining uncertainty: no product-specific studies have yet been verified for this page.

THE ROUTE MATTERS

Different Ways to Explore Carnosine

The same ingredient name does not mean the same exposure — or the same evidence.

01 / DIETARY & ORAL

Through food or oral formulations

Foods, oral carnosine and beta-alanine supplementation are distinct approaches. Beta-alanine is a building block used by the body to make carnosine; it is not the same substance as carnosine.

Digestion, metabolism, dose and the exact ingredient all affect what a study can tell us.

02 / TOPICAL

Formulations applied to the skin

Topical formulations take a different route. Evidence from oral research cannot simply be transferred to a gel or cream.

Whether a formulation reaches a particular tissue or produces an effect requires appropriate evidence. We do not assume absorption into human muscle or superior effectiveness.

MORE THAN A MOLECULE

Wellbeing Is Personal

Your story is yours. Your choices should be, too.

We all come to wellbeing from different places. A morning walk, a demanding training session, or simply making space for yourself — our circumstances and priorities are not the same.

Understanding the science is a starting point, not a prescription. Consider your own health, ask questions and seek qualified advice when you need it.

“Helping you take that first step towards feeling better.”

CARNOSINE, WITHOUT THE COMPLICATIONS

A FINAL THOUGHT FROM SARAH

Start with curiosity.
Take the next step in your own time.

I don’t believe in selling products simply for the sake of selling them. I believe in listening, sharing what we know, and giving you space to decide what feels right.

Sometimes, being willing to try something different begins with a question.
For me, “JUST TRY IT” is about openness — never obligation.
